What are Time Banks? Time banks are systems where individuals earn "Time Dollars" by providing services to others, and then can spend those Time Dollars to receive services from other members.
How it works:
Members earn Time Dollars by contributing their time and skills (e.g., childcare, gardening, tutoring, transportation).
They can then use these Time Dollars to access services from other members, creating a reciprocal exchange of labor and skills.
Time banks are designed to be a community-building tool, not a financial system, with the focus on mutual support and reciprocity.
Key Principles:
Reciprocity: Time banking emphasizes the exchange of services, creating a system of mutual support.
Community Building: Time banks foster social connections and strengthen communities by encouraging people to help each other.
Empowerment: Time banking empowers individuals to contribute their skills and resources, and to access the services they need
